The list of totally absurd BBM-DSM-AS-NT "explanations" of Hale-Bopp
observations is endless. One hot off the press, dated January 30, 1998,
involving the highly defined, or discrete, tail [18.0] above says, "as
[being] due to the presence of large and old dust grains that were released
by the nucleus at least 100 days before these observations, possibly much
earlier." The story admits a 93 million mile distance for the tail portion
that is in view. Now consider the probability of dust, unassisted by any
other force except gravity, maintaining a highly discrete position, while
being impacted over "100 days" by solar winds which vary from 300 to 700
km/sec, or 669,600 to 1,562,400 miles per hour.
